The paper deals with the impact of the study of the social sciences in the formation of the bachelor in Law and, more specifically, intends to investigate how the teaching of sciences is being carried out in a specific case, the course of Law in the Universidade Federal da Ceará. For comparative purposes, the course of Social Sciences of the same Institution of Higher Education will be analyzed, by means of the examination of the curricular matrix of both bachelors. Parallel to the current norms in force in Brazil related to the Curriculum Directives of Law Teaching and with debates already existing on the subject, the objective was to draw a parallel of the understanding of the Social Sciences with the complete formation of a professional of Law, reaching the conclusion of the case study, demonstrating that the formation of the student of Law has a great deficiency in relation to the teaching of the Social Sciences within the same University, aspect that demonstrates the necessity of a greater study on the subject, to indicate which the challenges and prejudices that the lack of an adequate treatment of these sciences in the graduation generates in a jurist.
