Abstract

This theoretical study aims to reflect and systematize the knowledge that supports the pedagogical practice of teachers working in higher education. It focuses on the processes of formation and construction of a knowledge base for university professors who need to act in a scenario of changes and uncertainties and of profound social and educational transformations, which brings new attributions to the school and, therefore, to the formation of future teachers. The different types of knowledge are acquired throughout life, passing through environments such as basic education and the university, and it is in these contexts where the construction of specific knowledge for the university professor and future professors takes place. The theoretical basis from the knowledge model for teaching presents a look at the different possibilities of understanding the teaching process by the types of formal knowledge, which are interconnected and contribute to the training process.
