THE TOURISM AND LOCAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF CANTON CEVALLOS, ECUADOR

Abstract

Tourism worldwide for several decades has experienced a continuous and rapid growth, to the point of becoming one of the economic sectors of greatest importance for local economic development; this is mainly because it helped socioeconomic progress with the generation of sources of employment for its inhabitants. In Ecuador, tourism is of great importance due to the fact that it has become one of the most important sources of non-oil income, due to the country's location, but above all to enjoy a diversity of flora and fauna, which are considered tourist attractions for foreign visitors. That is why in the province of Tungurahua mainly in the canton Cevallos tourism is of great importance because through it and the reactivation of the train routes have made known their handicrafts, increasing their income levels and they have chosen to create ventures. Thus generating more sources of employment for the entire population and thus improve the quality of life of it.
