Currently there is much interest in the potential that has been detected in the field of nanotechnology in various areas. This article will focus on the food industry and how investments are being made worldwide in the use of this technology for the entrepreneurship of new businesses in food production. To this end, topics such as human resources in science and infrastructure in nanotechnology, new technologies and their applications in the food industry, and applications of nanotechnology in the value chain in this sector are disclosed. Resulting in the application of nanotechnology in areas such as quality and food safety, the development of new products and the packaging of food. It contributes to improved functional properties, and can favor the improvement in the quality control of many products. Its application can provide many benefits to the food industry in general and therefore, to consumers.
