Abstract

The article presents the development processes of neural functions as a preamble to the reading process in children belonging to the nationality of the Intercultural Bilingual Community Center (CECIB) IKA, Ecuador. An analysis is made of the results obtained in two test batteries: CUMANIN Neuropsychological Childhood Maturity Questionnaire, and TONI 2 non-verbal intelligence test with these results demonstrates the importance of taking into account the relationship between cognitive development, development of the neural functions and cultural practices at the time of teaching literacy in a contextualized way.
