Abstract

The result of this research is part of the framework project of Latin American Educators. Our objective was to establish the contributions of these educators and to present a theoretical-methodological approach to their life histories and some biographical studies in education based on the analysis of the main historiographic trends. The relevance, recognition, and visibility of educators in their capacity as leaders who transform socio-cultural and political realities are highlighted from the social history of education and its imaginaries, all these elements strengthen the research line: -University, teachers training interculturality - by the research group -History and Prospective Studies of the Latin American University –HISULA-. In this sense, we present as a result a theoretical-methodological approach, based on categories as performance and leadership. The research approach of this social research is justified from the ethical and commitment principles since it questions about educators´ current construction of identity in Latin American, as a reference for the emergence of educational policies from the principle of interculturality. To conclude, we present four historiographic tendencies and new prospective analysis of life histories and biographies in education. The shared reflections are part of an experience of pedagogical intervention and implementation of this method in a group of an indigenous community from Colombia, the U'wa people. Finally; we report six, identified and classified, historiographic currents in the field of educators' life histories.
