AGING PERSPECTIVE IN CHILE: ANALYSIS OF GOVERNMENTAL MODELS ORIENTED TO THE PROMOTION AND PREVENTION OF PHYSICAL AND PSYCHIC HEALTH

This document aims to examine government programs targeting older people, in the framework of health promotion and disease prevention. Those whose purpose is the participation and involvement of older people in their communities to improve their quality of life. However, the increase in the population of this age group creates a huge challenge for the system, which requires regularization of the different initiatives and cross-sectional planning based on contextualized needs. Methodology. A document review of pages and documents was carried out from the national to the local level. With the understanding that the changes require resources and political will, information was taken from the beginning of the 21st century; annual reports of government institutions and official public documentation regarding policies and programs aimed at the elderly population in Chile.
