Abstract

Introduction. Patients are the main axis of health services including the pharmacy, to the satisfaction of their satisfaction global indicator that evaluates dimensions of quality and that associated with sociodemographic characteristics of gender, age and level of education is relevant to establish proposals for continuous improvement. Objective. To establish the relationship between satisfaction and sociodemographic characteristics of patients treated at a pharmacy. Methodology. Cross-sectional, descriptive, correlational study. Place. Riobamba - Ecuador. Participants. 125 patients. Intervention. Simple random sampling, expert judgment, valid form: SERVQUAL modified satisfaction with likert type scale, gender categories, age and level of instruction with INEC scale, informed consent, analysis in SPSS systems V20, excel. Main outcome measures. Pearson correlation coefficient. Results. The most frequent sociodemographic characteristics in the patients were: female gender 56%, secondary education level 55.2% and young adults 55%. The satisfaction indicator determined 49% satisfaction and 51% dissatisfaction. We found an inversely proportional association between patient satisfaction and age. Conclusions. There was a statistically significant correlation between patient satisfaction and age.
