SOME NOTES ON THE PHENOMENOM OF INSTAPOETRY

Abstract

The main objective of this article is to propose a definition for the term instapoetry, referred to the literary phenomenon of sharing poetry on Instagram, in order to include it among the current artistic trends on the social networks. To get this goal, we have followed the IMRDC pattern (Introduction, Methodology, Results, Discussion and Conclusions). At a first stage of the research, we have located the main poets known as instapoets, collecting interviews and articles from different magazines and newspapers. Secondly, and trying to achieve a general view of the movement, we have selected the most significant ones, who are presented in this work. In order to make an accurate review, we have curated them considering aspects such as popularity, mediatic recognition and the use of unique elements in their posts. Thirdly, we have carried on an analysis of the different authors selected, stablishing their common points to compile a list of characteristics. Finally, we have started a discussion on the instapoetry topic, considering if the listed characteristics are exclusive for this form, offering a final definition of the phenomenon considering the obtained results.
