Abstract

The objective of this work is to decipher the social processes that make up the different forms of harassment that are directed towards women in Mexican work and school environments. Beauty, youth and poverty are three categories that are visualized in Mexico in the processes of harassment. The data we have obtained from an anthropological and interdisciplinary research that over the last few years has been carried out with the analysis of mobbing or group bullying in the workplace. The questions that were sought to answer with this study are: How are women controlled through harassment in work and school environments? What social significance does it mean for women to be considered poor? This work is based on the assumption that bullying is used as a form of social control and exclusion of women in work environments, as well as in educational institutions. The latter occurs with adolescent women who become targets of harassment when the physical changes in their body are evident. It is not only found in working women, but also in secondary, upper secondary and higher education schools. The findings show that the problem of harassment becomes more complex when women do not participate in the acts imposed by dominant men or women with their behavior and power. The harassment is directed mostly to young people and vulnerable because of their economic condition.
