Entre epistemologias e transformações sociais: a construção da teoria crítica da deficiência

A recente emergência da "teoria crítica da deficiência" corresponde a uma decorrência direta das contribuições frankfurtianas no último século. Ela se comporta como um modelo interpretativo adequado às experiências vivenciadas pelas pessoas com deficiência, tendo como referenciais elementos políticos, culturais e sociais. Esse paradigma teórico visa identificar as contradições existentes na leitura tradicional do conceito de deficiência, rompendo com os critérios de normalidade e os processos de patologização das deficiências. Neste trabalho, apresento os pressupostos teóricos que fundam a ideia de "teoria crítica da deficiência" na literatura mais recente das Ciências Sociais e do Direito, buscando identificar quais são suas potencialidades para ultrapassar as insuficiências da(s) teoria(s) tradicional(is) da deficiência. Recorro tanto às teóricas de uma vertente feminista contemporânea que procuram mapear as interlocuções entre deficiência e exclusão social quanto aos teóricos que desenvolveram a ideia de "paradigma social de deficiência". Uma das principais ênfases da teoria crítica da deficiência consiste em fornecer interpretações integrais a respeito do fenômeno da deficiência, favorecendo a construção de novos modelos construtivos de conceitos e direitos.
