Abstract

The present paper inquire into general concepts of prospective approach as a starting point to analyze existing evidence about the current trend of ICT in the Chilean schooling to anticipate forward future scenarios about the evolution and probable routes in the next years considering the present incorporation, use, and application of the mentioned technologies. We address first a glance to the future of society and technology as a trigger for changes that occur at high speed sketching new social and economic relations. Reference is made to the most advanced technology researching areas and trends and the main paradoxes in an approach that suggests anticipate the future. The introduction of ICT in education in developed countries began more than three decades ago and they have had special care in researching of future effects in order to adjust, adapt and anticipate the future of society. In Chile we have not evaluated its systemic impact, in other words what are the positives and negatives aspects associated with ICT in teaching, learning, or school management processes so there are wide gaps of uncertainty about likely future scenarios, that is why we also pretend encourage more researchers to think in new studios from the prospective approach which also consider that likely future in order to reach the more desirable and beneficial.
