Abstract

Considering that in order to make visible the world of naturalized life, starting from the intersubjective experience, it is necessary to carry out a second order analytical process, such as social representations, this research aims to describe the social representations about cultural diversity in the education of students in municipal schools in the Araucanía region. The type of research is qualitative, with the interview being the instrument used to collect information; the design is the study of multiple cases, the investigation is framed in two schools of different communes to make a collective interpretation of the theme or problem; the paradigm to the base is hermeneutic, since the answers of the interviewed subjects are interpreted, trying to describe their social representations rigorously, and phenomenological, because this interpretation is carried out without previous prejudices; the level of research is dense description, according to which the testimonies of the subjects contribute to the understanding of the cultural diversity that is intended to be known. Likewise, an open and axial coding was carried out that allowed to lift codes, through the software atlas.ti version 7.0
