Abstract

Introduction. Currently relevant studies for the timely training of future professionals are relevant studies of careers, especially in the educational field, because of the importance that this process has on the development of human life. Objective. Base the need for the Special Education career through the study of its relevance in the Universidad Estatal de Milagro (UNEMI). Methodology. Descriptive and transversal study. The documentary study, the survey (five study groups) and the triangulation of instruments were used. The SPSS program and measures of central tendency and dispersion were used. Results After the analysis and triangulation of the results obtained, certain regularities could be established that undermine the attention to the population under investigation. These are related to problems that hinder the attention to the SEN associated or not to disability and the lack of conditions of the teachers for the educational attention of the students with SEN associated or not to disability. After the study, certain competences that must be developed by a Bachelor of Special Education were specified. Conclusions. The study carried out revealed the need to implement the Special Education course at UNEMI to provide answers to the population studied.
