THE SPORT COMPETITION: FROM THE EARLY SPORT ABANDONMENT TO THE SELF-IMPROVEMENT

This article presents an analysis of the sport competition starting off from the premise of being one of the reasons why of the early sport abandonment between young people. Based on an conceptual analysis, ethic and motivational of the sport competition, there is a reflexión considered about the need of a orienttion change in the perspective with which educators develop thesport in school and extracurricular fields. Eventually, basing off in the Self-determination Theory and the Achievment Goals Theory, this neccesary changes are suggested in order to present the competition as a source to a personal progress and as a way to the true excelence.
