HISTORY OF PLANT HEALTH IN MEXICO FROM 1900 TO 1963. THE COMMISSION FOR AGRICULTURAL PARASITOLOGY AND THE DEPARTMENT OF PARASITOLOGY
Abstract
The founding of the "Parasitology Commission" in Mexico was a fact of institutional significance, in
the study, combat and legislation of pests. With the armed movement of "Revolution", the government
takes up the phytosanitary problem, the formulation of the first federal law on plant health and the
changes that occurred in the fight against pests. On the other hand, in this research, the
transformation of the agricultural defense department is shown until it became the General Directorate
of Plant Health; It also refers to the large-scale use of pesticides and the evolution in biological control,
the incorporation of scientific advances through the so-called “Green Revolution”
