Abstract

Preserving heritage and landscape values in the historical centrality contemplates numerous challenges, from its low population density, commodification, to the deficiency in the application of urban regulations. This article proposes to describe the problems facing historical centralities today and from the City of Zacatecas as an object of study, a territory that represents a significant heritage legacy for Mexico. As a work material, the analysis of demographic data and surveys applied to four sectors of the population were taken: visitors, inhabitants, merchants and public employees. The analysis of information and the construction of data explained the importance of preserving its historical centrality as a historic urban landscape. The results obtained were compared with the conservation strategies carried out by state and municipal authorities. Finally, the main finding of the research recognizes the importance of citizens and their participation in the regulatory framework and in the processes of patrimonialization.
