Abstract

The phenomenon of corruption is a construct that has occupied the agenda of public debate in contemporary society, as a consequence of many factors such as the protagonism of democracy and the conquest of liberties and new spaces by citizens; but, above all, because of the serious consequences caused by this serious scourge in society, and in particular, in the institutions of the state. This document includes an analysis of corruption in the judicial system as a particular case, addressing the situation in the context of Ecuador. Based on a literature review, and supported by interviews of experts and key actors in corruption, some reflections are presented as a starting point for the consolidation of research trends in this area.
