EDUCATIONAL SOCIAL WORK IN A MULTIPROFESSIONAL PERSPECTIVE: AN ANALYSIS OF SOCIAL ASSISTANT'S ROLE IN STATE SCHOOLS OF THE MUNICIPALTY OF JOÃO PESSOA, BRASIL

The article analyzes how Social Work professionals characterize their specific contribution within a multiprofessional team in the sphere of Education. The aim is to identify how the social worker interaction with schooling policies occurs, as well as their attributions and prerogatives within the public institutions of João Pessoa, Brazil. To this end, we address the role played by the social worker in the elaboration and implementation of schooling policies, their particularities and challenges. It is also emphasized that, during this process, the establishment of an effective dialogue between different professions is essential for the success of a multiprofessional intervention. The article concludes by emphasizing that, within a multiprofessional team, it is up to the social worker to raise awareness of students' social rights and to direct them to public policies capable of meeting their demands within the institution. Thus, the bibliographical methodology, qualitative and inductive was adopted, based on articles published in journals, books, dissertations and theses, using, among other authors, the theoretical contributions of Almeida, Amaro and Santos.
