CHILEAN PRESENCE IN EASTER ISLAND: NOTES ON TERRITORY, PEOPLE, ILNESSES, DELINQUENCY AND POLICE CONTROL 1925-1930

This article describes and analyses the way in which the Chilean State marked presence in Rapa Nui between the years 1925 and 1930. The mentioned presence was under the control of the Chilean Navy with a sub-delegate in charge who possessed wide attributions as the highest authority in that territory in the Pacific Ocean. A series of measures taken in those years will be described which are backed up with different documents that were written in the island, where their aims are clearly shown as well as the needs and problems lived in Easter Island.
