The purpose of this article was carrying out an integrative literature review for understanding
shared play as a cultural manifestation among children, relating this practice to the gains in
meanings and verifying the role of the adult as a mediator of this action. Social interaction with
their peers at school or in the family environment tends to stimulate different abilities in
children, both at the cognitive and socio-affective level, as well as in the communicative one.
Therefore, from the present study, it was observed that the child is a social being and play
favors the child's creativity when formulating imaginary situations at the time of play.
