Abstract

This article is an approach to the work of the Mexican sonetist of the 20th century, Maria Griselda Alvarez Ponce de Leon (1913-2009). She was a woman fighter for the equality of women in front of men in the educational and labor world, her motto was "education is the means to progress". Poet, teacher and politics. She was the first female governor of a state in Mexico in 1979. Her prose was rich and partly unknown, she cultivated the narrative, the story, the epistle, the essay and the periodical press. Some of these works are unpublished and others have been lost in the dwindling provincial newspapers.
