This article analyses the role of the Santa María Magdalena parish in the Magdalena Mixhuca suburb, after the 1985 earthquake in Mexico City. The parson Benjamin Perez Bravo played an important role in the establishment of the Unión de Colonos Trabajo y Libertad (UCOTyL), which managed the financing and construction of 460 homes in this area.
