Cooperación internacional entre estados de México, Estados Unidos y Canadá: El impacto del TLCAN en las relaciones subnacionales

Resumen

Este artículo analiza las relaciones económicas transfronterizas en América del Norte tras el Tratado de Libre Comercio (TLCAN), examinando tanto perspectivas nacionales como cooperación subnacional. Utilizando el marco conceptual de la paradiplomacia, se estudian las relaciones económicas internacionales y la gobernanza regional entre actores subnacionales. Los resultados muestran una mayor integración económica impulsada por el TLCAN entre México, Estados Unidos y Canadá, facilitando la cooperación internacional en áreas como medio ambiente y desarrollo fronterizo. Se destaca cómo las entidades subnacionales estadounidenses participan activamente en el comercio bilateral con México y Canadá, especialmente en regiones fronterizas, donde se han establecido esquemas de cooperación que generan nuevas formas de gobernanza transnacional.
