Abstract

The extraction of natural resources has a long tradition in the history of Latin America. Classical extractivism and its new modality, neoextractivism, have been facilitators of the construction and consolidation of the capitalist mode of production, which, historically, has been made of the territories through processes of violence and dispossession in order to feed the growing demand for resources that requires This model of development. In recent periods and to this day, the extractive model has been promoted and reaffirmed as a development policy from the so-called progressive governments to countries like Mexico where regency has not been experienced under left-wing political options. Far from promoting development and welfare options for communities through employment, these have left irreversible ecological, social and cultural social impacts; This scenario is distant from the idea of great benefits and profits for the receiving communities.
