CURRICULUM POLICY FOR SPECIAL EDUCATION AND THE ROLE OF EDUCATIONAL CAREERS IN SCHOOL
Abstract
This work aims to analyze the role of the educational caregiver in the school context, through the
policy of inclusive education and curriculum for Special Education, aimed at people with disabilities,
in the municipal education network in the city of Campina Grande, State of Paraíba. It is classified as
a qualitative research, associated with document analysis, using an online questionnaire as a data
collection instrument. Four educational caregivers and four teachers from two schools in the
aforementioned teaching network collaborated with the research, expressing themselves about
adequacy to the requirements of the Special Education policy, in terms of qualification, updating on
the inclusion policies and their implementation processes. It is concluded that, in these processes,
caregivers and educational caregivers play a relevant role and contribute decisively to teachers, but
they face challenges, such as the low effectiveness of public policies; the lack of organizational
restructuring and flexibility of curricular proposals; professional devaluation, which includes low pay.
