Abstract

This study is the result of a Doctoral Thesis in Education defended at the Federal University of
Alagoas in 2018 and analyzed the experiences of adult people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
in relation to schooling and conceptions of the world, to highlight aspects that enhanced and/or
weakened them in their development and social participation. Vygotski's historical-cultural approach
constituted the theoretical contribution of this research, which used the narrative of life with unit of
analysis the category of experience. It was conducted in 2017 with four individuals with ASD, oral,
aged between 30 and 36 years, in the municipality of Maceió-Alagoas-Brazil, from narrative
interviews. It was found that the experiences of the participants, in their family/school/social spaces,
