NATIONAL IDENTITY AND WELL-BEING IN PERUVIAN HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
Abstract
In the current context of globalization, it is important to see how national identity is understood and
defined in young students and how important it is for the development of their lives. The present
study aims to analyze the relationship between national identity and well-being in secondary school
students from a private school in the city of Arequipa. 22 students of the fifth year of secondary school
from a private school in the city of Arequipa participated, to which two instruments were applied: a
questionnaire to measure the variable "national identity" and another for the variable "well-being".
The results show the direct existence of the relationship between the study variables, since this
relationship denotes a direct link between their living conditions, the social situation in which they live
and their level of satisfaction with their personal and social life. Likewise, the study sample
characterizes national identity in a double sense: from an internal or personal vision and from the
other. Finally, subjective well-being is an internal, personal and personal issue closely linked to a
high self-esteem and in search of constant public recognition. Meanwhile, with regard to collective
well-being, the study sample sees itself as highly motivated individuals, with a high appreciation of
themselves and a sense of satisfaction with their personal life.
