SPORTIVE PERFORMANCES AND STYLIZATION OF THE BODIES WITH DISABILITY. A SOCIAL QUERY AROUND OF CLASSIFICATIONS OF “NORMALITY” OF HUMAN BEING?
Abstract
“To change outlook on disability” for fighting against discrimination. Many stakeholders on the field who try to increase disabled
people social accessibility share this goal. Mass media communications have a role to play in ensuring the dissemination of
images which could change their representations. Actually, this paper shows that the media stage more and more characters,
which could be classified in this category. That was particularly due partly because more and more disabled athletes participate
in sporting events like Paralympic Games and they benefit at the media coverage that accompanies them. That was also due
because more and more artists are interesting by some particularities disabled bodies present. This article analyses both
contemporary registers of mediatisation about disabled people asking the changes of outlook. Until now, disabled people was
represented as members belonging at a category stamped by diminished capacities; they are “less” than persons defined as
“able bodied” (less capacities, less efficacies, less body control, etc.). What can we see nowadays?
