LINGUISTIC COMMUNICATION IN TEACHING DEGREES: DEVELOPMENT OF COMPETENCES
Abstract
This article aims to analyse the importance of the subject Communication in Education in the new
Spanish Teaching Degrees, specifically in the Teacher in Primary Education Degree, taught at the
University of Salamanca. We consider that the development of communication skills in future
education professionals is essential, since they are in charge, among other functions, of knowing
how to deal effectively with learning situations in multilingual contexts, promote reading among
children or guide students to discover for themselves the critical interpretation of the various types of
oral and written texts. For this, we analyse the meaning of this subject and its justification in these
study plans, its relationship with other subjects and courses, its contents and its general and specific
objectives. In particular, we are going to carry out a description of the basic, general and specific
competences that are worked on in this subject, in order to respond to the new educational
requirements of the European Higher Education Area.
