Abstract

In this essay, the problem we address is related to a Chilean State that uses the school as an
ideological apparatus, to print an instrumental rationality, which perpetuates a monocultural
curriculum in education. The objective of this article is to get closer to the biographical narrative
research method, its conceptual and methodological components, to get closer to the study of young
Mapuche who go through Professional Technical Education. The documentary and international
search exposes: a) Technical Education and Mapuche Youth as Context of Study; b) Background of
the Narrative-Biographical Research; c) Methodological Aspects of Narrative-Biography. It is
concluded that the narrative-biographical method is presented as a theoretical-methodological
solution to explore in depth the problem faced by young Mapuches today in professional technical
school.
