Televisión Española (TVE), as a public service, has among its functions to contribute to the dissemination and knowledge of the Spanish audiovisual productions, such as is established by Law 17/2006, of state-owned radio and television. The aim of this work is to analyse the presence of Spanish cinema on the TVE schedule, in order to evaluate the fulfilment of the informative function that the state-owned public television has entrusted -for all types of public, and in particular, young people-. The study methodology is based on the analysis of the programming of La 1 and La 2 TVE's channels, in order to examine what type ofontent is broadcast and how it contributes to the promotion of Spanish cinema among spectators. As a main result is can be noted that, although both channels include on its schelude programmes that offer spectators the opportunity to know the Spanish cinema, both past and present, in all its aspects, it can be seen that in the case of La 2 there is a greater interest in information and education, by incorporating previews of the works, as well as discussions with professionals and experts, and various specific programs about cinema.
