An alternative solution to reduce the problem of unemployment is entrepreneurship. The objective of this research was to determine the factors that influence the entrepreneurial capacity in students of Economic and Business Sciences. The study had a quantitative, descriptive and correlational approach, with a non-experimental cross-sectional design. The population was of 4,296 students enrolled in a Mexican public university. Simple random sampling was performed with 95% confidence and 5% error, which yielded a sample of 353 students. An exploratory factor analysis validated the construct “entrepreneurial capacities” with three factors: personal, resources and social. The reliability of the instrument was calculated through Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient, which reported 0.90. The results showed that 27.4% of the students do not present entrepreneurial capacity. The ANOVA analysis of variance reported significant differences among the students of the educational programs of the Bachelor’s degrees in Public Accounting, Business, Marketing and Economics. It is concluded that the social factor can positively influence entrepreneurial initiatives, however, it is necessary to strengthen administrative skills.
