THE DISCOURSE OF RESILIENCE. SOCIAL REPRESENTATIONS OF STUDENTS IN THREE PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES IN MEXICO(UNAM-BUAP-UAEH): AN APPROXIMATION

The general objective of this work is to know, through the discours analysis and social representations and the application of a survey to 142 students of the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Hidalgo (UAEH), Universidada Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (BUAP), the degree of resilience and ways of overcoming adversity in the course of his university career. A survey was applied through a questionnaire consisting of 47 questions. In a general way it was found that the majority of students (79.6%) overcame the adverse situation and the rest (20.4%) did not. The specificities revealed that when students were asked if they had managed to overcome the situationtheywere confronted with, those of the UNAM by 34.4%, answered not having managed to overcome adversity, in contrast to the other two universities (BUAP and UAEH) in which the percentages of improvement are 18% and 16% respectively. This breakdown reveals that although globally the percentage of non-improvement was 20.4%, when determining by institution the results show that the resilience is higher in the students of the BUAP and UAEH compared to the UNAM.
