INFLUENCE OF READING STRATEGIES ON THE LEVEL OF READING COMPREHENSION OF EDUCATION STUDENTS AT JOSÉ MARÍA ARGUEDAS NATIONAL UNIVERSITY - 2019
Abstract
This study investigates the following objective: To determine how reading strategies influence the
level of reading comprehension of education students at the José María Arguedas-2019 National
University. The work sample consisted of 114 students to whom two questionnaires were applied to
measure the reading strategies and reading comprehension variables, instruments that went through
the validity of expert judgment and reliability through a pilot sample. The results were analyzed
through the Excel spreadsheet and the SPSS statistical program. At the descriptive level, statistical
tables and ranges have been used to determine the predominant levels of the variables; at the
inferential level, the parametric statistic, Pearson's r, was used at a significance level of 0.05. The
results found show that reading strategies are directly, moderately and significantly related to the
levels of reading comprehension in the students of the study sample. It also demonstrates all
dimensions of the reading strategy also correlate significantly with the levels of reading
comprehension.
