THE PROMOTION OF PUBLIC POLICIES FOR BRAZILIAN TRANSNATIONAL ENTERPRISES LOCATED IN CONFLICT-AFFECTED AREAS

Abstract

This article is developed from bibliographical research that seeks to demonstrate the need for the
Brazilian State to promote public policies for Brazilian transnational corporations located in conflictaffected areas. For this purpose, a brief history is presented regarding the evolution of human rights
principles and norms. The paper then examines the human rights abuses committed by transnational
corporations in countries that receive their activity, with greater emphasis on conflict-affected areas,
since they are the most vulnerable. Finally, it concludes by demonstrating the need to promote public
policies, to be carried out by the Brazilian State, to effectively identify, prevent and mitigate the risks
to the human rights of residents in conflict-affected areas.
