ANÁLISIS NARRATOLÓGICO Y COMPARATIVO DE TRES VERSIONES ANIMADAS DE LA LEYENDA DE LA LLORONA1

Resumo

A narratological and comparative analysis of three animated versions of the legend of La Llorona is
presented: Cuenta la leyenda, Fantasmagorías and Tremendas Leyendas. From a qualitative
perspective, a nine-step methodology is developed that arises from the adaptation of the film analysis
methodology elaborated by Piñeiro (2000) and the inclusion of the elements of the narrative structure
proposed by Genette (1998). A comparative analysis of the elements present in the versions is then

developed and it is concluded that the three versions of the legend, despite coming from different
contexts, contain similar elements in the structure of the story, which revolves around a woman who
lost her children and wanders about repentantly in her search while emitting a horrific cry.
