REVISTA DE HUMANIDADES Y CIENCIAS SOCIALES
Ethical Policies
Publication and Authorship
Revista Inclusiones Revista Inclusiones is an electronic journal published by Editorial Cuadernos de Sofía SPA of the Republic of Chile.
Revista Inclusiones is grounded in the thematic areas of Humanities and Social Sciences, with the ultimate goal of fostering human development in all its expressions through the research and academic contributions published in its pages, without in any way undermining the dignity of human beings or any living creature on the planet. In light of this, and without prejudice to the author(s) of research or reflection articles, reviews, critical reviews, bibliographic records, or other future contributions submitted to our journal, Revista Inclusiones reserves the right to reject submissions before they are sent to blind peer reviewers. Researchers and/or academics acknowledge this policy upon reading these lines and accept it upon submitting their work. This policy also applies to researchers, research centers, and/or universities requesting a Special Issue, which must comply with these Ethical Policies before being sent to peer reviewers.
Structure
Revista Inclusiones operates with the following structure: a Director, an Editor, two Scientific Editors, an Editorial Committee, and an International Scientific Committee. Together, they ensure the quality and relevance of the journal’s content.
Editorial Committee
Members of the Editorial Committee and the International Scientific Committee are evaluated annually based on their recognition in their respective fields and their research and/or academic output, as demonstrated by publications in other national and international journals, books, seminars, conferences, workshops, awards, and recognitions, as well as invitations to serve on Editorial or Scientific Committees.
Original Articles
All articles submitted to Revista Inclusiones must be original and unpublished, and they must not be simultaneously under evaluation by other publication outlets, whether books or journals in any format, nor have any editorial commitments with other publications. If a manuscript is accepted by the Editor, in collaboration with the journal’s academic-scientific body, it is expected that its publication in Revista Inclusiones will precede any other full or partial publication of the article. If an author of an article submitted and published in Revista Inclusiones wishes to include it in another publication, the journal or book where it is republished must clearly indicate the details of the original publication, with prior authorization requested from the Editor of Revista Inclusiones. Likewise, when Revista Inclusiones is interested in publishing a previously published article, or when a member of the Editorial Committee or International Scientific Committee wishes to publish it in Revista Inclusiones, the journal will first seek authorization from the publisher of the original publication. In the second case, the member of the Editorial Committee or International Scientific Committee must authorize the journal to publish it, providing all details of its origin and prior publication for proper citation. This process applies only to members of the Editorial Committee and International Scientific Committee. Exceptionally, if the Editor or a member of the Editorial or Scientific Committee proposes the publication of a previously published article by an academic or researcher not affiliated with these bodies, authorization will be requested from the article’s author(s) and the editor of the original publication, with a footnote on the article’s title page indicating where it was previously published and the corresponding authorizations.
Author Responsibilities
All authors wishing to publish in Revista Inclusiones must submit their articles, reflections, reviews, critical reviews, or bibliographic records through the journal’s website, implemented on the Open Journal System, within the deadlines established for article submission. Revista Inclusiones provides publicly accessible guidelines for authors, which include instructions for submitting articles and reviews, as well as editing rules. While the Editor, editorial teams, and blind peer reviewers accept and approve articles, reflections, reviews, critical reviews, and bibliographic records based on criteria of quality, research rigor, and peer evaluation, if these works are returned with comments in the first instance, the authors are responsible for the ideas expressed therein and the ethical suitability of the article. This fully exempts Revista Inclusiones from any ethical and/or legal processes arising from the publication. Furthermore, once published, Revista Inclusiones is not responsible for third-party ethical-legal actions, which the author accepts. Authors must explicitly state that the text is their own and that it respects the intellectual property rights of third parties. If authors use material not of their own creation, it is their responsibility to ensure they have the necessary authorizations for the use, reproduction, and publication of tables, graphs, maps, diagrams, photographs, etc. Authors also agree to submit their texts to blind external peer evaluations and commit to addressing the observations of the reviewers, as well as those of the Editor and Editorial Committee, to make the requested adjustments. These modifications and corrections to the manuscript must be completed by the author within the timeframe specified by the Editor of Revista Inclusiones. Upon receiving the revised article within the stipulated period, the author will be informed of its final approval. If the author fails to meet the deadline set by the Editor, their work will not be published.
Rejection
When texts submitted for consideration are not accepted for publication, the Editor will send a written notification to the author explaining the reasons for the rejection, based on a confidential evaluation sent to blind peer reviewers. The author of the article, reflection, or critical review acknowledges and accepts this process upon reading these lines and agrees not to have access to or know the evaluation details. The decision is final, and the author acknowledges this resolution from this moment.
Editorial Process
During the editorial process, authors may be consulted by the Editor to address any concerns or questions. Both during the evaluation and editing processes, email is the preferred means of communication with authors. Questions, inquiries, or suggestions will not be addressed through other channels. The Editor, in consultation with the Director of Revista Inclusiones, reserves the final decision on the publication of articles and the issue in which they will appear. This publication date will be met provided the author submits all requested documentation within the specified timeframe. The journal reserves the right to make minor stylistic corrections.
Peer Review/Evaluator Responsibilities
Upon receiving an article, the Editor assesses whether it meets the basic requirements set by Revista Inclusiones. The Editor, together with the Director, Scientific Editors, and Editorial Team, establishes the first filter, considering format, quality, and relevance. After this initial review, the articles that will proceed to the peer review process are determined. However, this decision may rest with the Director or Editor, with the Editorial Committee reserved for controversial cases, ensuring that the quantity and quality of received and reviewed articles are reported. At this stage, texts are subjected to evaluation by anonymous academic peers, known as blind reviewers, and to the judgment of the editorial team and Editor. The result will be communicated to the author within a period of up to four months from the article’s receipt. If the evaluation process exceeds this timeframe, the Editor must inform the author of the situation. All articles passing the initial review filter will undergo a peer review process conducted by blind evaluators, who may provide suggestions to the author, including significant references not included in the work. These reviewers are, in most cases, external to the institution, and their selection ensures no conflicts of interest with the topics they evaluate. If any doubts arise, the evaluator will be replaced. Revista Inclusiones uses a format with carefully defined criteria that evaluators must address regarding the article under review. Evaluators are responsible for accepting, rejecting, or approving the article with modifications. During the evaluation, the names of both authors and evaluators remain completely anonymous.
Editorial Responsibilities
The editorial team of Revista Inclusiones, with the participation of the Editorial Committee and International Scientific Committee, is responsible for defining editorial policies to ensure the journal meets the standards required to maintain its status as a recognized research and academic publication. Continuous review of these parameters ensures the journal improves and meets the expectations of the scientific and academic community. Just as Editorial Guidelines are published, which Revista Inclusiones expects to be fully adhered to, the journal must also publish corrections, clarifications, rectifications, and justifications when warranted. The team is responsible for selecting the best articles for publication, with selections always based on the article’s quality, relevance, originality, and contributions to societal knowledge. Similarly, when an article is rejected, the justification provided to the author must focus on these aspects. The Editor is responsible for overseeing the process of all articles submitted to Revista Inclusiones and must implement confidentiality mechanisms during the peer review process until publication or rejection. When the journal receives complaints of any kind, the team must respond promptly in accordance with the publication’s established guidelines, and if the complaint warrants it, ensure a proper investigation is conducted to resolve the issue. If inaccuracies are identified in published content, the Editorial Committee will be consulted, and corrections and/or clarifications will be made on the journal’s website. Once an issue of Revista Inclusiones is published, the Editor is responsible for its dissemination and distribution to contributors, evaluators, and entities with which exchange agreements have been established, as well as to national and international repositories and indexing systems. Likewise, the Editor will ensure the journal is sent to those who request it, although it remains openly accessible to the public in cyberspace.
