Abstract

How people with intellectual disabilities (PSD) are treated has varied throughout the history of mankind from infanticide in ancient time to total inclusion now a days. People with special needs are considered subjects of right to be respected and not discriminated, they should have equal opportunities. The multidimensional model of disability (AAIDD, 2011) promotes reading and writing skills as well as basic mathematical abilities considering them essential skills in the inclusion of people with special intellectual needs to any community, which enables them to access knowledge, to communicate and to cope in everyday life so to achieve social inclusion. Having the mentioned in mind, what happens when people don’t have access to literacy or to those skills that are considered basics in order to benefit from them in any society? In response to these concerns is that the study of the PSD power has risen, being the main purpose of the present study to “Analyse Reading Comprehension Skills, Text Production and Language management in students who present diagnosed intellectual Disability studying in special schools in the Region Los Lagos in Chile”.
