Abstract

Alligator management at Resex Lago do Cuniã was motivated by a fatality
involving a child, due to an alligator attack and, as a result of this fact, the idea of
a management plan to control the alligator species on site emerged. In this
context, the research aimed to analyze the benefits of alligator management at
Resex Lago do Cuniã in the light of collective entrepreneurship and sustainability.
This is an exploratory-descriptive research, with a deductive method and a
qualitative approach. Data collection took place through a report of the last
slaughter that took place in 2016, as well as through virtual interviews, carried
out in 2020. The results achieved showed that the alligator slaughter for the
community alone does not generate sustainability, functioning more as a way of
balancing procreation and protection of the main activity of the community
(fishing), in addition to offering more security for the people of the community.
