PERCEPTION OF SINGLE-PARENT MARRIAGE AND ADOPTION IN THE AREA METROPOLITAN CITY OF PACHUCA HIDALGO, MEXICO
Abstract
The present work tries to know what is the perception of homosexual marriage as well as the
perception of the right to adopt, on the part of the homoparental couples. The work is based on the
results obtained from a quantitative survey, which allows differentiating the perceptions of men and
women residing in the metropolitan area of the city of Pachuca Hidalgo, which is made up of 8
municipalities. The survey has a confidence of 95%, an estimated error of 5% and a non-response of
15%. The hypotheses that guided the present investigation were: 1) Young people are more likely to
accept marriages and adoption by homoparental couples than older people. 2) Women are more
susceptible to accepting homosexual people than men. 3) Schooling plays an important role to be
able to accept the right that people of the same sex living with a partner have, as well as to adopt.
The results demonstrate the weight of these variables, where it stands out that the characteristics
and position of the parents before this phenomenon plays an important role in this exercise of
acceptance of human rights.
