BURNOUT SYNDROME IN TEACHERS OF PUBLIC AND PRIVATE UNIVERSITIES OF THE METROPOLITAN AREA OF THE CITY OF PACHUCA, MÉXICO
Abstract
The objective of this work was to find out the level of burnout in full-time and subject-based contracted
teachers, residents of the metropolitan area of the city of Pachuca Hidalgo, and who work within the
public and private universities of said study space. The hypotheses that guided the research are the
following: a) Teachers who work in public universities have a higher level of burnout than teachers
who work in private universities. b) Full-time teachers, regardless of the university where they work,
have a higher level of burnout syndrome than teachers who work by subject. c) Women who work as
teachers regardless of their type of hiring, present higher levels of burnout than men. The results are
supported by two quantitative surveys, both were carried out in the metropolitan area of the city of
Pachuca Hidalgo, in the month of May of the year 2019, both have a significance of 95%, an error of
5% and an estimated non-response in 20%. The findings allow universities to compare both types of
universities, as well as to validate the hypotheses raised, but also show that burnout syndrome is also
an emerging issue in the metropolitan area of study.
