BOLSONARISM AND THE CARNIVALIZATION OF DECOLONIAL THOUGHT
Abstract
This work is part of the Research Project that aims to characterize a Brazilian political movement that
emerged in recent years and that won the presidential election in Brazil in 2018, which was
conventionally called “Bolsonarism”, headed by then Federal Deputy Jair Bolsonaro, current
President of the Federative Republic of Brazil. In it, it is intended to confront the concept of
Decolonialities with the aforementioned political group, the one understood as, roughly speaking,
deconstruction of colonial epistemologies rooted in former European colonies, the Brazilian, in this
case, having racism and its way as a structuring column to see the non-European Other; and that,
the opposite of this.
