Abstract

In this seminar we show the tensions and challenges of opportunities of democratic involvement which are
promoted today from Public Higher Education Institutions in Colombia specifically, at Universidad del Valle,
where there are different ethnic groups. Because of that, we will base on the experience of CIU (Cabildo Indígena
de la Universidad del Valle), in order to have an experience of collective action in a public context. The study is
related to perspective of critical Latin American thinking, and can have two meanings: an exercise to make visible
and expressive indigenous youth students of the Universidad del Valle as founding social individuals of the
processes that constitute policy actions built from afectación and disagreement or as thankfulness for their
founding participation in building ideologies with other type of common sense, if we talk about power and
placement in the world.
