THE ANTONIO ROQUEÑI ORNELAS COMPLAINTS INTO THE MEXICAN CATHOLIC CHURCH OF THE NINETIES
Abstract
Antonio Roqueñi was a diocesan priest, judge in the Court of the archbishopric of Mexico, which was involved in
affairs very discussed inside of the Catholic Church: he criticized in a hard way the Apostolic Nuncio in Mexico
Girolamo Prigione and stand up for the bishop from San Cristobal, Samuel Ruiz. Making an analysis of these
cases, this article inspects the focus and some of the main troubles of the Mexican catholic church of the nineties.
In fact the archbishopric of Mexico resists a process of centralization, in the same way as the diocese of San
Cristobal from Chiapas made it.
