FACTORS ASS0CIATED TO LIFE QUALITY OF PEOPLE IN PROCESS OF PHYSICAL REHABILITATION WITH MEDULLARY INJURY. MEDELLÍN, 2013

Abstract

The spinal cord injury has become a public health problem that affects the quality of life of people who suffer, causing
disability and functional dependence. To assess quality of life related to health in terms of sociodemographic
characteristics, level of depression and functionality of people with spinal cord injury from a foundation of the
municipality of Medellín, 2013. It was performed a cross-sectional analytical study. Questionnaire was applied to 41
subjects with spinal cord injury in physical rehabilitation process for measurement and analysis of sociodemographic
characteristics, health status, level of depression (Beck Inventory) and functionality (Katz Index). The perceived
quality of life was measured with the questionnaire SF-36v2 Health Outcomes analyzed QualityMetric ™ Scoring
Software 4.5. Data were analyzed for Windows SPSSv21 was estimated p value <0.05. Most of the population was
male (90.2%), the average age was 32.54 years (± 10.52). The most common type of injury was C with 41.5% and
the most common cause of injury was the traffic accidents (39%). Quality of life SF-36 reported 76% below the tscore on the physical component population and 61% above it in the mental component.
