THE ACCOMPLISSEMENT OF THE CHARITY’S DUTY IN POTOSÍ DURING THE COLONIAL AGE
Abstract
In this study we have tried to analyze the relations that their inhabitants of Potosí, the wealthiest city in the
word after the discovery of the fantastic silver deposit in 1541 established with the poor and poverty at different
period of the history.
During the period do prosperity, respecting the duty of charity symbolized the privileged tie with God they were
so proud of and which enabled them to show their wealth. When decline came, il helped them pray in the
nostalgic memory of a mythified past.
