GREEN AND PURPLE JOB GUARANTEE: THE MAIN COMPONENT FOR A GREEN NEW DEAL

Abstract

The Job Guarantee is an economic policy proposal for guaranteeing a job to anyone who wants and
who is willing to work through a minimum wage offered by the State. With full employment and price
stability being its main objective, the climatic and environmental emergency situation that our planet
suffers requires that the type of activities assigned to the Job Guarantee place at the center the care
of human beings and fauna and the flora: ultimately the care of life. Only in this way a dignified
existence can be guaranteed to all those people who are experiencing the worst today. At the same
time, that contributes to the sustainability of the environment. In this work the economic, social and
ecological advantages of this type of political project are extolled, the net cost of its implementation
in the Spanish economy is calculated, an organizational model is proposed that is consistent with the
administrative specificities of the Spanish State, and it is argued that all this can be implemented even
within the institutional framework of the European Economic and Monetary Union.
