SECONDARY EDUCATION VALUES AND THEIR RELATIONSHIP WITH EDUCATIONAL AGENTS
Abstract
This paper approaches the concept of values and its integration in the educational practice,
understanding that it is an essential topic for the adequate coexistence in secondary education.
Firstly, it is important to differentiate the following terms: values, feelings and emotions. Secondly, we
address values within different fields such as social, scholar and familiar contexts. In the family sphere
are assessed concepts such as "responsible love", "honesty", "guilt", "self-esteem" or "family models".
Regarding the school environment, we delve into the moral component that every teaching activity
inevitably has. From this approach, we try to answer questions such as which values should we
convey and how to do it. Finally, considering the social sphere, we point at how from this sociological
scope of the study of values human beings are the object of social relations and are determined by
social influence. Furthermore, human beings also actively reproduce certain influences, that is why
education of values is a product and consequence of the social environment. In conclusion, we stress
the importance of an education for citizenship that support the inspiring values of international
organizations such as UNESCO and more locally with the Recommendations of the European
Parliament and the Spanish Constitution
