SCHOOL TRAJECTORIES IN AN ONLINE POSTGRADUATE. ANALYSIS OF THE PERFORMANCE OF STUDENTS ENROLLED IN A MASTER'S DEGREE
Abstract
This study aims to analyze the school trajectories and the characteristics of the students who had
successful careers, those who dropped out permanently, those who rejoined in the short term and
those who re-entered the generation that began in August 2017 to the Master’s in information
technology (MTIE), online postgraduate degree from the Autonomous University of Zacatecas, in
Mexico. The project is a non-experimental research design with a longitudinal retrospective cohort
evolution study, that studies what happened during the students' coursing through the semesters of
the MTIE. The results show that, from a total of 84 students who enrolled, only 48% completed all
courses, and, out of these, 27% of did so in two years, the ideal time of the program. It is observed
that the students who had a successful trajectory are related to a higher average of undergraduate
notes, with higher percentages of parents with postgraduate degrees, in hours dedicated to studying,
and in that they sought support in the program when a problem arose, than those who abandoned
or ended out of time.
